This week, the boys and girls in primary 2 had so much fun exploring ‘measures’ through stories. To introduce our new topic we read the story ‘Superworm’ by Julia Donaldson and were set the challenge of going on a hunt around our garden to find Superworm’s friends and arrange them from shortest to longest. This led us to wonder how we could measure the length of Superworm’s friends so we read the story ‘If the shoes fits’ by Jennifer Dussling to find out. We learnt that we can use lots of different items to measure and about the importance of selecting the most appropriate depending on the size of the object. To put this into practice, we had so much fun measuring different parts of our bodies and comparing them with our friends. Look, we even got to measure our friends. What an exciting topic this is going to be!
